When planning an adventure holiday, the best way to organize yourself is by putting together a camping checklist. This is by far the easiest and most effective way to make sure you are taking everything you need along, so put some time in doing it right. Then when you are packing, just tick each item off the list and this way you’ll know that you are good to go.
It’s only natural that every list will be very different and the items you will think of including will depend on your different every time needs, the weather, the length of your trip and the various activities you want to participate in. However a few general guidelines can be given to everyone who wants a place to start and then you can add the items that you deem appropriate. Take all these different factors into consideration before compiling your list.
There is no better place to start your list but with the shelter and bedding supplies. Write down things like a tent, stakes, sleeping bags, an air mattress, sheets, pillows, duvets and other similar items. Make sure you have proper bags to carry all this while protecting them from getting dirty.
Of course cooking equipment will have to be included in your list too. Items like pots, cutlery, napkins, towels, bowls, plates and glasses need to be listed and the way of transporting them has to be considered. Oil, herbs, sugar, salt and other seasonings that you might need when cooking should be added onto the list and a table and chairs should be included in this part too.
It is now time to list all the clothing items that you think you will need. This varies greatly depending on the climate of the place you’re visiting as well as the activities you are taking part in, but still a general pointer can be given. In this part you should write down things like jeans and t-shirts, boots or flip flops, socks and rain gear or swimming suits.
Personal things like a deodorant and a shampoo should be listed too. Include towels, feminine products, a razor, a toothbrush and a toothpaste and toilet paper, as they will all be needed no doubt. Also don’t forget to write down any medications you might be prescribed with as they are always forgotten when you’re packing in a rush. Putting some extra packets in your backpack is a good idea, as you want to be sure you have enough.
Little things like a torch, sunscreen, books and magazines or a camera should fill the last part of your list. These are the things you always forget because you tend to throw them into your bag last minute. If you have them written down, you will never forget them again. Maps and perhaps even a compass are always useful too.
It is important that your camping checklist contains a first aid kit as well. Without it you will not feel safe and if a problem arises, you won’t be properly equipped in order to solve it. Be safe and you won’t be sorry.
